Samsung's share of high-end smart TVs in China drops to 13%
Update:2022-06-16 00:00:00
According to Thelec, research firm Display Supply Chain Consultant (DSCC) said that Samsung's share of high-end TV shipments in China has fallen sharply in two years, from more than 20% in 2019 to nearly 10% in 2021. Among them, Samsung fell below 20% for the first time in the fourth quarter of 2020, and fell to 13% in the fourth quarter of 2021.

High-end TVs that DSCC refers to include liquid crystal displays (LCDs) with quantum dot films, Samsung-branded QLEDs, as well as LCD TVs with LED backlights, 8K LCD TVs and OLED TVs. Samsung ceded its position as China's largest TV supplier to Huawei as its share fell. DSCC said Huawei's share of high-end TVs will increase from 10% in 2019 to nearly 20% in 2021.

The DSCC said Samsung's decline in shipment share was caused by the company raising TV prices. Meanwhile, globally, Samsung's market share in premium TVs fell from 60% to 50%. Although LG Electronics' share of China's high-end TV market is still below 3%, DSCC data shows that its global share has increased from around 10% to around 20% over the same period.
